Our favorite picture from Chicago

This picture was taken at Navy Pier as the sun was setting! Enjoy it!

Day 6: The Shedd Aquarium

Today we woke up and walked to the Shedd Aquarium to see the sea life. We also saw a giant Komodo Dragon (apparently they can kill a deer and eat it). After the Aquarium we got to rest a bit (for the first time all week!) Plus, Jon needed to check up on World Cup scores. After that we got to go shopping! So much fun! We went to the biggest American Girl store I have ever seen. Jon was facinated by the doll store, where they have a hospital, theater, and hair salon for dolls. Afterwards, we went back to the Art Institute because we still hadn't seen all of it! So we had to go and find American Gothic (the one with the old man and woman holding a pitchfork).
We finished off our last day in Chicago with the Sears Tower at night! Amazing! Standing at the top (or at least the observatory part of it. . . 103rd floor!) of the Nation's tallest building! Wow! The lights went on forever!

Day 5: The Science and Industry Museum

Today we woke up to SUN! It was a beautiful and warm day! We took the train to the Science and Industry Museum (it was too far to walk!). This place was just HUGE! I mean gargantuous! We spent 5 hours there going through the exhibits quickly, and we still didn't see everything! We got to see the Leonardo Davinci exhibit - they had taken his notebooks and built his drawings/inventions! We even got to play with some of them!

When we got done, we put our tired bodies back on the train and went to find dinner. We had a nice walk through Millenium Park, where there are some cool fountains (see the picture). We ate at this great restaurtant called the Big Downtown Restaurant and had some amazing fries! We spent the evening at the Art Institute. It was Huge! We didn't even get through the whole thing!

It was a great day!

Day 4: More walking. . .

Today we woke up to rain. Thank goodness it stopped before we left, or it would have been a long, wet walk to the zoo. The Lincoln Park Zoo is amazing! The exhibits are very nice and give most of the large animals both indoor and outdoor access. It was really cool! The best part was that it costs absolutely nothing!!!!! How cool is that?

After the zoo, we started out long trek back to downtown Chicago. Our next stop was the Hancock Observatory! That was really cool! We were up at the 93rd floor! You could see for miles! It was a bit hazy that day, as clouds were coming in for the night.

We spent the evening at Navy Pier. We went through this great maze (mirrors, bubbles, tight spaces, an elevator drop - eek!) It was so much fun! We were so tired of walking that after dinner, we sat down and ate funnel cake! Delish! Right as fireworks started, the rain also came pouring down. We had a fireworks show made by man and by God! The lightning was amazing! The walk back was very wet! You ring out water in my hair. We were so wet that the umbrella that we had brought along was no longer worth it!

What an end to the day!

Day 3: Musuem Campus

We got up this morning and walked to the Museum Campus, where the Field Museum, Planaterium, and Shedd Aquarium are located. We got to see the King Tut exhibit. It was very crowded, but pretty cool! At the Field Museum, we saw lots of dead animals, Sue (the T-Rex), and much more! There was so much to see! By the time we finished the muesum, it was already late in the afternoon (it was a big museum!) We decided to go to the Planetarium after that. While we were there it rained! It finished by the time we left, which was nice because we didn't have to walk in it! We had dinner at Gino's Pizza, signed the walls, and went home to give our tired bodies a rest!

Day 2: Chicago or Bust!

Bright and early this morning we went got up to fly out of the San Fransisco Airport. We arrived in Chicago at about 6ish and checked into our very cool room at the Hard Rock Hotel, right on Michigan Ave. We got a corner room with lots of windows. That night we had dinner at Bennigans across the street (we miss Bennigans~ No more in Fresno!) . We spent the evening walking around Michigan Ave.

Vacation Day 1: Giants vs. A's

Our first stop of our vacation 2006, was the Giants vs. A's game in San Francisco. We went with Matt, Lisa, Jeff, Kelley, and Cooper. It was great! The A's won 10-4. Go A's!
