Summer Beach Trip

Mid-July we had the opportunity to to the beach for a relaxing vacation. The goal was to get refreshed and spend some time as a family. . . something we really needed. Thursday, we got to Morro Bay and relaxed around the house until the San Luis farmer's Market. We had never had the opportunity to go to that one. It was a lot of fun. They crazy street performers at every intersection. Jon enjoyed the Lord of the Cello, a kilt wearing, crazy man playing a cello. Ethan's favorite was probably the crazy unicycle and flame juggler. It was a really fun night . . . especially because we got to meet up with our friend's the Mikow's -- who were also on vacation in Pismo at the same time! (We really loved that our vacations overlapped!).
The next day, we headed out to Pismo for some outlet store shopping and beach playing. We met up at Josh and Stephanie's fancy camping site and had lunch and had some beach fun! Jon and Josh took the kids out first while Steph and I fed the little one's. They had so much fun building their moat. . . so much fun that as the tide came in it actually worked. They even had an audience! Weston had his first feet in the sand experience, which he was okay with. . . just did not like the wind at all! After we got everyone cleaned up, we headed to McKlintocks for some major food eating! We had a lot of fun playing in the "stable" (a toy horse) and taking pictures. We even tried to look for a geocache, but there were too many muggles. On the way back to Josh and Steph's, we took some time to play at Dinosaur Park, where we were successful in a geocahe hunt (yay, us!). We hung out for a bit at Josh and Steph's roasting marshmallows until it was time for bed (the kids started fighting over toys. . . I think they were worn out!). Then, we headed back to our temporary beach home.
Saturday, brought a VERY relaxing day of doing not much. It was great! My parents came over for the day and so we got to have a yummy lunch with them and walk around Morro Bay. Ethan picked out a ton of shells at The Shell Shop (for the record. . . he is obsessed with sea shells right now. . . especially starfish!).
We sadly packed up our stuff and headed home to our busy lives, but not without one more family walk on the beach. Ethan collected every shell he could find and spent some time touching the really cool tree outside the house.

It was a great weekend and it felt great to have a break from the business of our regular lives (and from the heat!).

4th of July

I guess since July is just about ready to become August, I should probably start posting some of the fun we had this month (it has been a great month!). We celebrated the 4th of July with Jon's family at the Dooley's. It was a perfect day for swimming and ice cream. Ethan had a blast playing with his cousins. He even got to play micro machines with his great grandpa (an awesome moment!). We ended the day with a fantastic firework show put on by Jon, Jeff, and Matt.

This summer. . .

This summer has been busy. According to Target, summer is over (what's left of their summer stuff is now 90 percent off) and school stuff has moved in. It's still July, right? We lost our camera and found our camera and have yet to dump the pictures onto the computer from our phones and camera, so here's a quick update on our little family:

Jon - working hard at the air district and teaching online math classes.
Jolie - keeping busy getting the 2011-2012 MOPS year ready to launch
Ethan - loving his summer. He did VBS in June and LOVED it! He is enjoying working his alphabet during our Letter of the week. We are currently on the letter D. He also is spending lots of time in his new sand & water box building sand castles and splashing in his wading pool. He is really in to Baseball right now.
Weston - growing so quickly! Last week, he weighed in at 14.4 pounds and 26 inches long. He is quite the roller and no long stays in one spot. He loves to "talk" and squeal high pitched squeaks and is an amazing smiler. Next week he will be 6 months old. . . hard to believe. I guess it's time to start making baby food!

Hopefully I will get with it and post some pictures soon. We hope you all are having a great summer, too!

5 months old

I can't believe how quickly the past 5 months have gone! Crazy! But, here's a quick pic of the cutest smile around! Hope you are all having a great day!

family pictures

I love this picture! Back in April, we had family pictures with Jon's whole family. . . it was such a fun adventure! A family friend, Jennifer, did all the pictures. . . she is amazing! When it gets easier to take pictures as a family, we are totally going to have her do them . . . when the boys are a few years older.
