We went to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo. . .

Jon had Monday off (thanks to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) and Ethan was feeling better, so we took advantage of the day and went to breakfast and the zoo.

First of all, let me just say that this month (January), Chick-Fil-A is giving away free breakfasts and it has just been a really nice treat. Ethan and I have met some other moms and had some fun times, and this time we got to enjoy it with Jon.

Second of all, Jon's parents got us the most awesome gift of a zoo membership and we are just LOVING it! (thanks Rich and Carolyn!)

This is the second time this month we have gone. Ethan loves all the animals. He was so excited that he was telling us that we needed to see the giraffes, monkeys, and tigers. Ethan also showed Jon how to dig for dinosaur bones, since Jon hadn't been to the zoo since last March (he will definitely be going more often now!).

It was a really nice day for the zoo and surprisingly for a holiday. . . not very busy . . . which is just the way I like it! We already have our next zoo outing planned. . .

until next time!

Zoo Lights 2010

This year, Jon really wanted to visit the zoo for their Zoo Lights event. We were so glad they extended it because it was really rainy every night we tried to go. . . and we just didn't feel like getting all soggy. We ended up going the day after Christmas, which was a really nice night to go. The weather was cold, but perfect. It was so much fun!
Ethan and I posing for a picture before we left.

Daddy is always a good pillow. . . especially when we're getting tired and hungry.

Isn't this boy so cute!!!!

Ethan enjoyed checking out the animals in the Reptile House. He had a hard time when we left and he couldn't see any of the other animals because it was dark and they were all asleep. He stopped every 3 feet to make sure he wasn't missing them! He did get to see a camel, giraffe, flamingos, a sea lion, and the animals in the reptile house.

We had so much fun!

Christmas Day

I can't believe that Christmas was a week ago and the decorations are now put away! Crazy, how quickly it goes! Our Christmas Day started out with some awesome family time with breakfast and opening presents. Who would have thought that Ethan's new crayons would be the prize of the day (all he wanted to do was color!). . . until he opened his bright blue Thomas train! He had so much fun. Then we took advantage of the lack of rain (it has been a tad wet around here lately), and took Ethan out in his PJ's to try out his new tricycle. He had so much fun riding it around our cemented area. Then, it was time for us to get ready. Jon's "Big" family Christmas (immediate and extended family gathering) was at noon. We ended up having some time to spare, so in popped Toy Story 3 until we had to leave.

Big Christmas was at Jon's Aunt Debbie's house this year. It started out a bit on the crazy side (actually funny) because Matt and Lisa were supposed to pick up Dan, but their Prius wouldn't start and was blocking their other car. So, Matt started riding his bike over and then Jon and Jeff went to go pick him up. Then it was decided that they were also going to go and pick up Matt, Lisa, and Everett because they needed to be there, too. So everyone started eating while this was going on.

After everyone had finally arrived and eaten we started the festivities of the day. . . so much fun. Then there was a birthday celebration and desserts (But I will post that later, because it's another funny story!).
The argyle cousins. . . Everett and Ethan. They both wanted to play with Aunt Debbie's kitchen toys. Ethan was unfortunately not in the sharing mood (lack of nap), and Everett really wanted to play with Ethan.

Our Christmas picture for 2010. . . the last one as a family of 3.

Rockstar biking!
