Our trip to Seattle . . .

Jon did a great job decieving me this weekend, because I really thought we were on a trip to San Francisco. He even left websites up making it look like we were going there. Thursday night, we headed to San Francisco via the BART. We didn't get off on any of our normal exits, and so, I became incredibly furious because I couldn't figure out where we were going when everything indicated the getto. We eventually got off the BART at the San Francisco airport and went to get out tickets. At this point, I have decided that Jon is sneakier than I thought and we are definately going someplace cool.

Our flight left the Bay at 11:30 p.m. and so after watching airplane episodes of The Office and 30Rock, we finally arrived at the Sea-Tac airport. We then hailed a cab that took us to our really nice hotel in downtown or maybe it was Belltown (a Seattle neighborhood). Our room had a very beautiful view of the Space Needle.

After a nice 5 hour cat nap, we got up and went exploring. We walked around downtown, checking out the new library, Pioneer Square, Pikes Place Market, and then we shopped. We ended up spending some of the afternoon resting in our room because we were so very tired. That night, we ate at a cool place called The Crab Pot on the waterfront. I will tell you that it had the best fish and chips on earth! Way better than Splash Cafe (and their's are good, too!). While we were eating, some infamous Seattle rain guided us home. It was a nice, wet walk back to our home for the night.

(These are the stairs in the new Seattle library)

Saturday, we got up to see if we could catch some fish tossing at Pike's Place Fish Market. We saw one fish being tossed and then the guy threw a rubber fish at an old lady. That was pretty comical (she was a good sport!). We even bought some chocolate linguini noodles from one of the venders. Jolie was able to visit the mecca of Starbuck's coffee at the original store in Pike's Place Market, and she enjoyed a coffee while we wandered through the shops (Jon had a hot chocolate). That was cool! We had some French pastries for breakfast at La Panier ("A Very French Bakery") and enjoyed them at a nearby park overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. Then we walked back to downtown, because it was pretty cold and Jolie didn't pack for super-cold weather. She got a new sweatshirt out of the trip.

We got to see the new Olympic Sculpture Park, which was Jon's favorite thing (partly because he was introduced to the greatest root beer in the history of the universe). Then we walked through the Queen Anne neighborhood and into the Seattle Center where we watched brave souls try to not get wet by the fountain. Jon wanted to go to the Science Fiction Museum and so we checked out that and the Experience Music Project Museum. Then, we ventured to the top of the Space Needle to watch the sun set. It was nice and cool, but a lot of fun!

After the Space Needle, we went in search for dinner, and ended up at a restaurant called Von's, which looked popular with the locals (which is always a good sign). Jolie had a salad, and Jon had the largest piece of pork in the history of the universe, and he consumed all of it! After dinner we waddled around downtown looking for a souviner for Jon, and he ended up buying two books at a store called Fireworks. Both of these critically aclaimed books were about depressed bunnies with suicidial tendacies, and all the different ways that they were trying to kill themselves. According to the critics, it was one of the most important books of the year (but they were just being funny). Feel free to peruse these books the next time that you use the bathroom at our apartment. After this, we finally called it a night and then hit the hay.

The next morning, we woke up to an irate lady screaming explatives in her cell phone for hour after hour on the streets below our window. Ah, the big city, what beautiful sounds. We then began our travel back to Fresno via a cab, plane, airtrain, BART, and car back home. Apparently, it rained more in Fresno more than it did in Seattle while we were gone...just a thought.

It was a great weekend, but unfortunately, Jolie may never trust Jon again, but it was worth it.

Here's a video of the fountain at the Seattle Center.

Halloween

This year for Halloween, we hung out with Jeff, Kelley, Cooper, Logan, Matt, and Lisa. We walked around whlie Buzz (Cooper) went trick-or-treating and then ate lots of snack foods and watched scary movies (I think?). I was working on my report cards and I heard a lot of screaming and then there was Ernest goes to Camp, which is always funny.

Our new dining table

This summer we finally got our new dining room table. It is so much fun. I think we have now eaten at it 3 times. We still find our coffee table the best place to eat.

Cayucus

Labor Day Weekend 2007! We once again went to Cayucus over Labor Day and had a blast hanging out with Jon's family. The weather was absolutely perfect! It was so much fun, we didn't want to leave.

We played at the beach, had a tennis tournament (Jon got tired of beating everyone at badmitton), played Kareoki Revolution. Jon also once again played in the Raineri cup golf tournament.

San Francisco

The end of July brought about a fabulous trip to San Francisco with Ben and Alli. We did some walking around and eating food and of course . . . shopping at Crate and Barrel. Jon and Ben went and saw the Smashing Pumpkins live at the Fillmore. They guys had a great time and us gals enjoyed walking Union Square in search of food for dinner. We found some great desserts at this jewish restaurant. I had a napolean. . . isn't that french? We settled on the Cheesecake Factory and waited for our turn to eat on a very cozy couch at Macy's. This picture was taken at Sears Fine Foods, one of our favorite restaurants in Union Square.
